Micron and Discovery Center Field Trip!

Today was the Micron and Discovery Center Field Trip, so Dad and I got up what we call early, maybe 60:30 A.M. and got there at 7:10. Dad and I couldn`t find a seat together so we sat across from each other in seats. It was close too. We left and I was SOOO EXCITED! I read about 10 pages out of Romeo and Juliet, the book I`m reading for fun since the school year is almost over. I talked on the bus, giggled on the bus, shouted on the bus, and occasional ate a pineapple slice when I wasn`t supposed to! =Þ Before we knew it, we were on Micron property, and getting inside the building. The building was HUGE! With those big reflective glass that looks all... bussiniessy. Teehee! However, they weren`t very busy, occasionally a employee walking by, someone there for certain reasons, but that was about it. We went into a big room with a big screen and p a projector, and exciting features all around us. They had tables that made it look sort of like a cafeteria. In there the lady talked about the memory chips that were on the table, DRAM, Flash and something else, I forgot. Then we moved to the first station, with nice cameras, phones, and toys broken down. Dessi and I were pretty sad that some of the cool phones and cameras had to be destroyed though. Next we went to a station were a lady talked about 1 and 0 with the bases and binary. She had two pipes that were connected, and at the bottom of the pipes, they were split into 4 pipes, each one had a switch and a balloon on them.
I went in front of the pipe where the front was and the lady handed me this plastic clear looks towel, she said to put it on the pipe and so I did. When she said to breathe through hard and strong, I did, Hayden was right beside me doing the same thing to the other pipe and I kept laughing, and Ms. Clayton said, "Looks like Hayden has more hot air than Natalie does!" Isn`t that like, a good thing? Lol. After that we went to a machine and used the binary code to write each others names. I was the only one who completed my whole name, and my name had the longest letters in it too! Everyone kept pushing the "clear" button, that`s why. We went to another machine that was just like where it blinked orange blue and green, then you push those colors in that order, then it would blink, orange blue green red... You get the idea. It was a memory tester. After the 4 stations we left and did something else, but it was very boring so I won`t tell you about it. We then had lunch which was Pizza and left for the Discovery Center. I was disappointed. Oh no! Not in the Discovery Center, but Micron. It was SOOO boring! The Discovery Center was a 110% better than Micron. They had so many gadets that you could play with, Dad got excited just playing with them! My favorite one was where there was this big, bright yellow satellite dish-shaped bowl, and on the other side of the room, it had the same kind, so Dessi sat over there and we talked normal, no yelling. It was SOOO cool! Now the next part was my EXTRA FAVORITE, DREAM WONDERLAND, HAPPY HAPPY part! At 3 we left for the bus to get our snacks to eat at the park just a couple yards away from the Discovery Center. First, let me tell you about last night, where my Dad went overboard and bought alot of "snacks" that were all fruit. Don`t get me wrong I love fruit, but it cost him $30 for it!!! So we walk over to the park, and there are all these beautiful Canadian geese EVERYWHERE! I`m not kidding, I bet there were AT LEAST 500 Canadian geese! So we went over there and soon Adam comes over and puts a chip in his hand and there are about 5 geese coming after his hand. My Dad asked if he could borrow a chip from Adam and he said yes, put it in my hand, then I went over to one of the geese, and he snatched it right out of my hands! OMG (ohmigosh) it felt so cool! His beak was all moist and he just grabbed it really fast. It was SOOOO cool I`m still not shocked at how tame they are and OMG they were just so pretty that I`m still amazed there was that many at the park. Even Dad couldn`t believe they were that tame. Well the ride home seemed like forever but we finally made it. Bye guys. Man I`m tired...

  1. Was this a field trip you did at school and Dad came along as a helper? It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. It was interesting to learn all of that stuff. What did you mean in your first paragraph that the cellphones and stuff would get destroyed?

  3. 1. the 5th adn 6th honors math students get to go on a very exciting oprotunity to a field trip and we got to to go to Micron this year. Dad came along as a chaperone or however you spell it. what I meant was Micron buys cell phones and cameras off ebay that cost them thousands, and they destroy it so they can look at the chips and make better ones . One word. Competition. Micron and the discovery center are both located in boise, 3 hours on the bus, y9ou had to find a way to make time fly. Dad is sick from the flu and he is blaming it on the bus ride but I doubt it.
